Fortes Milestones for Accountancy
Working smarter in accounting: getting a grip on time, money and growth.
The solution
Accounting firms are under pressure: margins are shrinking, compliance is becoming more complex and talent is scarce. Milestones helps you work smarter with a single platform for hours, invoicing, planning and reporting. That way, you keep a grip on your processes and create space for strategic advice.
From executive to advisory; The evolution of the accounting firm
The role of accountants is changing rapidly. Where it used to be about checking figures and reporting, the focus is now increasingly on strategic advice, risk management and process optimization. At the same time, requirements are increasing: stricter regulations, higher client expectations and a tight labor market.
Fortes Milestones helps firms make this transition. Automating repetitive tasks and providing real-time visibility into performance creates room for consulting, innovation and growth.
Seamless integration, scalable for any firm
Milestones easily links with virtually any system you already use. From accounting packages such as Exact Online, Twinfield, Yuki and Visma to CRM and document management systems. Thanks to the open API, custom integration is also possible, so you can always connect to your existing IT landscape.
Whether you work with a small team or manage a large firm, Milestones remains clear, fast and reliable. The platform is fully cloud-based and grows effortlessly with your organization. This keeps you flexible, without sacrificing control or insight.
More than software: a strategic partner for growth
Milestones is much more than a time tracking tool. It is a strategic platform that helps accounting firms work smarter, invoice faster and manage better.
With visually strong reporting and integration with your financial package, you get instant visibility into performance, margins and work in progress. Flexible invoicing options, such as subscriptions, advances and fixed prices, ensure that your services move with your customer.
A smart control structure prevents errors and speeds up payments. This is how you keep a grip on your cash flow and increase customer satisfaction. Milestones not only supports you operationally, but also helps you grow as an firm and steer strategically.

The Fortes Milestones Maturity Model: your roadmap to digital maturity
Based on years of working with accounting firms, Fortes has developed a maturity model that describes the five stages of digital maturity. The model shows how firms are growing in the areas of time tracking, invoicing and scheduling.
Phase 1: Ad hoc
In these early stages, firms often work with multiple separate systems and many manual steps. Hours are tracked in Excel, creating uncertainty about work in progress and margins. Invoicing is done after the fact and reports are limited.
Recognizable? If so, there is much to gain in efficiency and error prevention.
Phase 2: Defined
Time registration and invoicing are now integrated and agreements with customers are standardized. Processes are beginning to take shape, but insight remains limited and reports are still prepared largely manually.
The challenge: How do you translate standardized processes into steering information with which to actively manage your firm?
Phase 3: Visibility
In this phase, firms gain graphical insight into their performance. Reports are visual, up to date and give immediate insight into margins per customer and employee. There is a grip on the past, but the step to future-oriented work is still limited.
The opportunity: use data not only to look back, but also to plan ahead.
Phase 4: Future growth
Resource planning is centralized and capacity decisions are made proactively. Billing and scheduling are linked and forecasting becomes a regular part of the process. Decisions at this stage are based on central data insights.
The step forward: from operational control to strategic direction.
Phase 5: World Class
The most mature firms have a clear vision and processes for continuous improvement. Reports are generated automatically, AI supports resource decisions and strategic advice toward clients is a core activity.
The question: how do you maintain this edge and keep innovating?
1. Ad hoc
Many systems and many manual steps for many employees
2. Defined
Timekeeping and invoicing are integrated and invoicing arrangements are standardized
3. Visibility
Graphical overview of past profitability and new insight into efficiency
4. Future growth
Centralized resource planning and proactive staffing decisions
5. World-class
Clear vision and processes for continuous improvement
